A new article titled 27+1 Tips for Building and Maintaining a Blog Audience was published last week on the Sponsored Reviews blog. Although, we think we are doing pretty okay here with the Brew This! blog, we thought it would be a good idea to go over the issues discussed in the article and see how we well we manage with them.
The article features 28 tips for proper management of any blog, the tips are divided into three main categories: The Fundamentals, Building Your Audience and Keeping Your Audience.
We decided to focus on the fundamentals category and put Brew This! under the microscope in light of the article's “fundamentals “ tips. Under the fundamentals category they listed 5 tips including: 1. Consider Your Niche 2. Be Original 3. Don’t Forget the Design 4. Choose the Right Platform for Your Blog 5. Choose the Right Domain Name for Your Blog. Each tip is fully explained in the article with interesting insights.
I think it’s fair to say we have a pretty interesting niche for our blog as it is dedicated mainly to basically everything beer which is what the Brew This! website has been about for years so we are pretty sure that’s a given.
As for the second tip, I’m not actually even sure a similar blog exists on the net, so yeah, I guess we are original. We can probably gain more readers with a more popular topic but we prefer to stick with what we love.
Design….. Okay, I’ll admit that’s been a touchy subject for a while, but a complete site redesign is underway and should be ready within a few weeks.
Regarding the site’s platform. I personally don’t think this such an issue and each site kind of uses what works for them. If you are interested in knowing, Brew This! runs on Movable Type.
And finally – the domain. That’s an easy one… we would never replace the Brew This! domain name for any other. The Brew This! name has been associated with us for years and we think it works well for us.
We have recently joined the Sponsored Reviews network and are currently featured on their website for merchants and service providers looking for blogs to review their products.
