I’ve been planning a family trip to London for as long as I remember now. It just always seemed like we either had some reason why each year we would go someplace else and postponed our London plans but the same thing would repeat itself every year. I’m actually happy we hadn’t gone a few years ago like we planned since now our kids are finally at the age where they can appreciate the experience and enjoy it.
We finally decided that this year is going to be the year and set the second week in July for the trip. My wife is already checking out the shows and we hope to catch Les’ Miserables while we are there. My kids have their eyes a bit more set on Madame Tussaudes and Ripleys and some more kids oriented stuff.
We have almost every detail of our trip planned out. But one thing we didn’t plan on at all was this high British Pound rate. We just realized that one British Pound is worth about two dollars! While this trip is definitely going to cost us due to this screwy conversion rate, we actually got some good deals on cheep hotels in London. We now book everything online and before planning our trip we ran a google search for "cheep hotels London" and found many options for us to stay. All in all, our trip isn’t cheep but we are making sure to keep our expenses under control with most of our expenses planned out already. In addition to the great deal on the cheap hotel in London we booked, we also have reservations for air travel, show tickets and even set aside a small sum for shopping.
