There has been a lot of talk about game addiction not only in the media but among medical professionals as well. The American Medical Association also wants to join in on the debate but is calling for more research on the possible health risks of video and internet games. The AMA has taken a more cautious stance though by not outwardly saying that these games are addictive.
The association, who also called for a review of the video game rating system that is currently in place, also maintained that it will be the job of the American Psychiatric Association as well as other experts to determine if video game addiction should be classified as a type of mental illness.
