Hooked on Thoof

I’ve just been Thoof-hooked. Okay, don’t be scared. It’s not as bad as it sounds…. What I meant to say is that I’ve discovered the coolest personalized news on the internet and I am simply hooked. I think I’ve spent hours browsing in and out of the site today and to tell you the truth I’m beginning to see some stars. I think I should get up from my desk a bit and take in some fresh air. But not until I tell you what Thoof.com is all about.

Similar to other news aggregator sites, Thoof also lists articles and blog posts from around the web organized by categories and tabs for easy navigation. But Thoof is not just another news aggregator. They have added some cool features that really make them stand out from the crowd. For one thing, if you aren’t a stranger to user submitted content sites you must know there is a lot of misleading information and links which can really ruin the user experience on a site. It is frustrating to follow a link only to discover that the article is not even about what was described. That’s why Thoof allows the community to make changes to the listing on the site and suggest corrections when necessary.

Another key element to Thoof is the Thoof Rank which is embedded as a badge on participating sites. The Thoof Rank basically ranks items by the interest they receive from readers in relation to the category they are in. This way the best articles get promoted and the junk gets buried so you don’t have to bother with it. You can also check out the score a site receives by looking at their badge which is constantly updated. In general a score of above 50% means the site is interesting above average wand less than 50% will be below average. Obviously the higher the score the better. I gotta go breath a bit. But you go ahead – get Thoofed!
