In this modern, rapidly developing world that we now live in, issues such as energy saving does not necessarily interest us, but it should. We are all spoiled by modern technology. We wouldn’t know what to do without power. Solar power should be used in our everyday lives, in our homes and businesses. In order to make this possible, many steps need to be taken. The BP Solar Decathlon is an even that takes place every other year and involves twenty university teams from around the world. These teams design, build, and operate livable and very efficient solar homes over a period of a week. This takes place as a competition in Washington D.C.
BP Solar together with the U.S. Department of Energy sponsors this event. BP Solar has been a sponsor of this event since the first competition in 2002. This year the event will take place between October 11th and October 16th. BP Solar has created a blog for the competing teams and others to write and post as the week goes by. There is much to learn about this topic, and this event brings us another step closer to bringing solar energy to our homes.
