The use of P2P suffers from two major disadvantages. It would take the use of precious bandwidth to broadcast metadata in order to balance the load on individual PCs. ISPs are also not very eager to carry P2P traffic because it is viewed as a big money loser. A flat monthly fee is paid by subscribers regardless of how data is downloaded or uploaded.
Due to the expected relief from congestion a P2P network will provide, proponents are trying a system that will allow service providers to benefit from P2P traffic. The concept of peer-to-peer aims to bring connection beyond the computer to reach the human level. It is very common to see sharing of content files in the P2P technology.
